Our trainers combine practical experience as working broadcast and print journalists with careers as public relations professionals, professional speakers and educators. The following is a brief biographical sketch for each one.


One of the pioneers in the field, his career as a media trainer dates back to 1977 and is global in scope. He has conducted training throughout the US and in many far-ranging locations including Australia, Tokyo, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Canada, Puerto Rico and the Netherlands. Virgil's clients include CEO's of numerous major corporations and government leaders in the US and abroad. He began training executives after a long and successful career in news and sports broadcasting which included NBC and ABC.

Ken Scudder

 

A co-founder of Virgil Scudder & Associates, Ken coordinates and conducts much of the training for VS&A’s crisis preparedness programs, as well as serving as the firm's primary speechwriter. Ken has also appeared on numerous New York stages as an actor and stand-up comic. His journalistic credits include service as the New York Jets correspondent for an Internet sports journalism site

Dick Kulp

 

Dick’s clients include top authorities in the medical field, leading business executives and scientists. Following a broadcast news career which included NBC and ABC, he served for eleven years as chief announcer and program director for Physicians Radio Network. He has interviewed newsmakers ranging from Richard Nixon to Joan Crawford and covered numerous major news events.

Eliot Forest

 

A Peabody Award winning host and reporter on radio and television, Elliott has interviewed scores of leaders in government, business and the arts including Mike Wallace, Lucianno Pavarotti, Audrey Hepburn, and Paul McCartney. A former CBS talk show host, he currently hosts A&E’s Breakfast with the Arts and was the moderator for the national telecast of The Three Tenors concert from Giants Stadium.

 

Marie MacLean

 

Marie spent 17 years on the inside of the major network news magazine shows, working as a producer and reporter for The MacNeil/Lehrer News Hour, Nightline, Day One and PrimeTime Live. She has won five national Emmy awards and the American Bar Association's "Gavel Award."

Sandra Fielder

 

From her base in Miami, Sandra provides VS&A clients training in both English and Spanish. As a television journalist she covered stories ranging from the Oklahoma City bombing to the 1995 Cuban immigrant exodus and Super Bowl XXXI. She has also worked as a producer for Univision.

Barbara Alvarez

 

Another trainer who is equally at home in English or Spanish, Barbara has hosted entertainment programs for Telemundo, The Discovery Channel and The Box. She has interviewed scores of international celebrities on programs seen in over 100 countries. Barbara is now based in New York.
